Minutes of March 9^th 2004 Meeting

At 7:10pm, Joe Cooper called the meeting to order.  Gail Clancy read the minutes and Ray Brown gave the treasurer’s report.

Joe announced that Mitch Evans, the host of Talk Sports Radio 790 “The zone” would be the tentative guest speaker in April.

Joe also announced that he would continue to be the newsletter editor.  He asked for help with articles for the newsletter. So send in your bios, stories of tailgates, tailgate recipes, games of the past, players and coaches you have met and pictures.

We discussed new ways to attract new members and it was agreed on to do the following:

1.      Ray Brown suggested putting an ad in the Access Atlanta weekend free ad section inviting people to the meetings.

2.      Joe suggested wearing our Falcon gear wherever we go, tailgating, any parties or volunteer functions we attend, on Face-to-Face, and in case we get on the channel 11news.

3.      Chuck suggested that we all get together periodically on Saturday nights at a sport bar with our Falcon gear on.

4.      Mike Scarce suggested we have a tailgate party at the Braves game and put out our banner.  Mike will be working on this.

5.       Chuck will bring his chalkboard to put outside our meeting room to announce it is the Falcon Fanatics meeting and identify any guest speaker.

6.      Joe also suggested that we all make an effort to invite our friends and anyone who may be interested to the Falcon Banquet in June.

Chuck Ruffino discussed our new exciting web page.  Thanks to Ray Brown the web page is up and running.  It’s 10 pages; it has pictures, a message board, and a calendar.  It costs $25.00 per month now, but we are trying to get a store going.  If we get the Falcon’s go ahead with the store the web master will take 15% of the profit.  That would take care of our web fees plus we would get to keep 85% of the profit.  When the games start, Chuck will be posting pictures on the web site.  The membership application is on the web page.  You can pay with your credit card on line with Paypal, or just type your number on the application and mail it in or send a check.  Please print off applications and give them to friends and associates.   Also, Chuck said if we sent him pictures of ourselves, he would create a directory with names and pictures on the web.

New Business:

Chuck will be ordering the golf shirts, for the people that didn’t get them last year due to the Logo problems, tomorrow (3/11/04) and Joe said he would cover the cost until we got some money in the treasury.

 All members are urged to pay their dues early.   The address to send dues to is on the membership application. It is Falcon Fanatics, Inc., P.O. Box 7117, Marietta, Ga., 30065-1117.  With last years shirts coming in you don’t need to order another shirt.

It was noted that the Falcons are changing their color to red.  Motion was made to change this year’s t-shirt to red.  It was seconded and passed.

Joe told us the shirts were a little more than previously thought, so golf shirts would be $29.00 each with XXL $31.00, and XXXL $32.00.

Joe also reminded us that if dues were not paid by April 30^th, the member’s name would be purged from the membership list and they would no longer receive a newsletter.  He also reminded us to sign up to receive the newsletter by email; it saves money for the club.

Karen Beard said the banquet would be at Emerald Point again this year.  As of now it looks like the date will be Saturday, June 19^th.   As soon as the paper work comes out, everyone needs to register and pay.

Joe Cooper brought us samples of Gerald Riggs sports drink, Hydrade.  It will soon be sold at Kroger.  He brought last year’s Falcon Yearbooks, cheerleader’s pictures and other Falcon stuff and distributed them.  Joe also noted, that when we get some money in the treasury we need to buy items to raffle off at the meetings.  

The meeting was adjourned at 8:20pm.
